I am a permanent research fellow at the CNRS in France. My research focuses on the exploitation of natural ressources in the Roman empire, with a specific interest for its institutional and legal framework. Women were undoubtedly essential to this exploitation - either because they were working on the family farms or because they could own private resources such as mines or quarries. Yet, the ancient sources barely mention them and the modern historiography accordingly struggle to understand what their role was. The network provides the opportunity to further explore this aspect of ancient economies.
