 Aida Fernández Prieto


Aida Fernández Prieto (DPhil, Universidad Complutense and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) is Assistant Professor at the University of Valladolid (Spain). She has a BA in History (Universidad de Cantabria, 2013), a MA in History and Sciences of Antiquity (Universidad Complutense and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 2014) and a MA in Secondary Education (specialising in Geography and History) from the National University of Distance Education (2018). She also has a PhD with European mention in Ancient World Studies from the Universidad Complutense and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2020). Her research focuses mainly on poverty, marginalisation, social exclusion and socio-economic vulnerability in the Greek world, especially in classical and post-classical Athens. In 2022 she published her first book on the realities and "images" of poverty in democratic Athens. She has recently completed a Marie-Curie postdoctoral project (MSCA-IF) at Manchester Metropolitan University (Sept 2023) on the topic of Poverty, Vulnerability and the Family in Ancient Greece, part of whose results will soon be published in two co-edited volumes.
